We are delighted to host Youth Ambassadors Presenting Africa on June 22, 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm. This special occasion celebrates our inaugural Scholars and Fellows, who have been integral to our Healing Circle Program for the past two years.
The Healing Circle Program is made possible through a groundbreaking 3-year grant from the Department of Corrections via the California Violence Intervention and Prevention (CalVIP) Program. Healing Circle equips youth ages 14 -24 with skills to succeed and become influential leaders amongst their peers and community and address the cycles of trauma and low educational achievement to minimize the perpetuation of gun violence and crime in low-income neighborhoods of Bayview / Hunters Point, Tenderloin/ SoMa, and Mission District.
Our Current Youth Ambassadors Presenting Africa must participate in the one-year program to learn to read critically, think creatively, write clearly, and speak confidently. Their presentation on June 22 will help them build on their public speaking skills before departing for a 10-day intercultural visit to Kenya to learn more about their roots and connect with their peers.
As our esteemed guests, you are encouraged to engage with our Youth Ambassadors actively. This could be through Q&A sessions, networking breaks, or small group discussions, providing them an opportunity to connect with you!
